Īccording to Angela Kang, the current showrunner of The Walking Dead, the script was adjusted to have Connie be one of the characters who gets trapped during the cave-in, in part to accommodate Ridloff’s scheduling conflict. Ever since Ridloff’s addition to the ensemble cast of The Eternals was announced during the 2019 San Diego Comic Con, Connie’s future within the series has been in flux, especially since the production schedule for the MCU movie overlapped with the filming of The Walking Dead over the fall of 2019. Lauren Ridloff, the actress known for portraying Connie, may simply be taking a short hiatus from The Walking Dead after landing a leading role in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film, The Eternals. However, before fans of The Walking Dead add Connie’s name to season 10’s list of casualties, fans will be comforted to know that there’s a more practical reason Connie’s been missing from the show. Altogether, this almost certainly means the list is made up of desperate Commonwealth residents pressured into dangerous situations by the most powerful in the community. When Connie didn’t return with Magna during this week’s episode, it immediately raised a red flag regarding the character’s future within the series. There's even an April Kelly listed three names above Tyler Davis, creating a direct link between the list and the victims of Sebastian's deadly cash grab. The fresh walkers surrounding the estate are proof of that, and the soldiers loyal to Sebastian even admit they've already sent in somewhere between 30-40 people. Now, the list Connie receives has more than 40 names, but it's doubtful this incident is the first time something like this has happened. Clearly, this is money that Sebastian and possibly others have been after for some time, and many people have died trying to get it. She explains that she was in debt and desperate to clear it, so when a man offered her an opportunity to do so, she took it. Her name is April, and she is the sole survivor of a previous group Sebastian sent in. Once there, they discover a woman locked within its safe room. It begins with Daryl and Rosita being threatened by Sebastian, the Governor's son, into retrieving a large sum of cash for him from an abandoned estate overrun with walkers. In The Walking Dead season 11, episode 14 "The Rotten Core", another explanation for Connie's list of names is revealed. She gets a major lead following the incident with Tyler Davis during Governor Pamela Milton's gala, where after his arrest and disappearance, she's given a list of names from a mysterious source. Connie, having been an investigative journalist prior to the outbreak, is working to expose this corruption. Propping up this idyllic society, though, is a corrupt system that exploits its people. It's safe, well-supplied, and has more or less recreated life as it was before the outbreak. On the surface, the Commonwealth appears to be the perfect post-apocalyptic community.
